In order to access the benefits provided under the Nanda Gaura Yojana (NGY), about 2,300 beneficiaries are set to receive their beneficiary amount soon, the director of the Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) department Prashant Arya said. Arya said that in March, the department successfully disbursed the beneficiary amount to the beneficiaries enrolled in the NGY. Additionally, in March 2024, the amount designated under the NGY was disbursed not only to the beneficiaries of 2024 but also to those from the years 2023, 2014, 2016 and 2018. However, it was noted that a significant number of beneficiaries did not receive their allocated amount due to incorrect contact information provided during the online registration process for the NGY, he added.
Arya said that the department has instructed the district programme officers in every district of the State to ensure that Anganwadi workers visit the beneficiaries’ households and assist them in updating their account numbers to facilitate access to benefits under NGY. It is estimated that there are about 2,300 beneficiaries in the State who will receive these benefits. These beneficiaries will not only be from the year 2024, but from past years as well. The transfer of the beneficiary amount under NGY is expected to occur promptly, he added.
It will be recalled that the NGY scheme involves transferring Rs 11,000 upon the birth of a girl child and Rs 51,000 upon her passing class XII, which will benefit them in pursuing higher studies. Considering this, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has recently allocated the beneficiary amount for one lakh girls in the State as part of the Nanda Gaura Yojana with the objective of supporting the girl child.
