24 specialist doctors to appointed across State soon: Rawat

Twenty-four specialist doctors will be posted in the Medical Health and Family Welfare department soon, the Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said. The appointments are being made under the ‘you quote, we pay’ model of the National Health Mission to further strengthen health services in the State. These specialist doctors will be posted especially in the community health centre at Chaukhutiya, Pilkhi, Bironkhal, Didihat and the sub district hospital in the summer capital Gairsain. These appointments will resolve the long standing shortage of specialist doctors and help in providing better treatment to the patients, he said.
The Health minister further said that the State government is working consistently for the improvement and expansion of health services across the State. As part of these efforts, an attempt is being made to fill the vacancies of specialist doctors in various hospitals. The process for the appointment of specialists including surgeon, physician, child specialist, anaesthetist, radiologist and gynaecologist is being undertaken at a swift pace, the minister said.
He further informed that under the NHM’s ‘you quote, we pay’ scheme, a total of 40 posts of specialist doctors and two cardiologists have been approved in the State. Out of these, 34 specialist doctors are providing their services while six posts of specialists and two cardiologists are vacant. “According to the UPHS standards, specialist doctors will be appointed under the ‘you quote, we pay’ scheme in various medical treatment units across the State. These appointments will be made on a priority basis at the community health centre in Chaukhutiya, Bironkhal, Didihat and the sub district hospital in Gairsain. The State government is paying up to Rs four lakh per month to specialist doctors under the ‘you quote, we play’ scheme in the State,” the minister added.
