PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

Police have registered a case against a man for selling restricted fabric used for army uniforms in Raipur block of Dehradun. The action follows the recent terror blast incident in Delhi and concerns that individuals may use security force uniforms to carry out unlawful acts.

The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that during a surprise inspection on Saturday, Raipur Police found restricted fabric used for the new army combat uniform at a shop in the Raiwala area. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) had unveiled the digital disruptive pattern uniform in 2022 on Army Day. The uniform fabric is restricted for sale only to authorised military officers and personnel.

Singh said that the police recovered the prohibited material and registered a case against shop owner Bajrang Singh Rathore, resident of Hanuman Chowk, Raiwala, originally from Madpura village in Nagaur district, Rajasthan. The case has been filed under Sections 318(4) and 349 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 63 of the Copyright Act. Police have issued a notice to Rathore under Section 35(3) of BNSS and initiated legal proceedings, as per SSP.

He stated that any sale or purchase of prohibited items that may pose a threat to national security will result in strict legal action. All police station in-charges have been directed to continue such checking in their respective areas, he added.
