Former chief minister Harish Rawat has said that the historic decision of 26 political parties to forge Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) at Bengaluru on Tuesday has energised the workers of the Congress party in the country. He said that the Bengaluru meeting has proved the prophets of doom who were writing off the talks of unity of opposition parties, wrong. “The 26 parties have given a clear message that they would fight for democracy and India. He said that the leaders of opposition parties in Uttarakhand such as Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and left parties have expressed their desire to fight the BJP. Rawat said that the 26 parties in INDIA represent the regional, cultural and social differences and they carry the aspirations of crores of people of the country. The natural reasons account for 40 per cent while man made reasons contribute 60 per cent for the recent rain triggered disaster and floods in the State. He accused the BJP government for consistently ignoring the maintenance of the dams which resulted in the floods in Haridwar district. The wrong policies of the BJP government have converted Haridwar and Dehradun into Jal Kumbh.
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that there are 14 such parties in the 38 party alliance of NDA which do not have even a single MP. He said that the ruling BJP has destabilised 10 governments of opposition parties in recent years.
