In a tragic road accident in Tanda Forest, three young men, travelling on a scooter, died on Sunday night.   The trio was going to Haldwani to collect a mobile phone left behind at a wedding they had attended earlier. The accident occurred when their scooter collided head-on with a Scorpio car coming from the opposite direction. All three were taken to the district hospital, where they were declared dead.

Police said that the victims have been identified as Aniket (20), Akash (24), and Rohan (22). Aniket was from Jaspur while he worked in a company in Noida. He had come to Rudrapur to attend a wedding in Haldwani. He later met his friends Akash and Rohan, who were working in a private company and living in Pantnagar.

On Sunday evening, all three friends went to Haldwani on a scooter to attend the wedding ceremony. After returning to Pantnagar at night, they realized that one of them had left his mobile phone at the venue. Around midnight, they decided to go back to Haldwani to collect it.

While travelling through Tanda forest, about 2 kilometres from Sanjay Nagar, their scooter collided with a Scorpio car. The impact was strong, and all three youths were seriously injured. Passers-by informed the police, who quickly reached the spot and took them to the district hospital. However, doctors declared them dead on arrival.

The police sent the bodies for post-mortem and informed their families. On Monday, family members reached the hospital.  Police said further investigation into the accident is underway.
