PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The principal of DAV PG College, Kaushal Kumar has said that approximately 4,100 seats are available for admissions in undergraduate courses at the college this year. Discussing the admission status, he said that the results of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) have recently been declared. This year, the selection of students for undergraduate courses will also be based on the CUET results. Though the CUET has released the results, the admission notification by the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University has not been issued yet. Kumar said that the university is soon expected to open the portal for its affiliated colleges and after that the students can register for admission.

Kumar said that the university will prepare a merit list of students, which will then be provided to the college. He also said that if some students do not appear for admissions according to the merit list and seats remain vacant, the college administration will inform the university about the available seats, he said.

Kumar further stated that this year, around 4,100 seats are available for admission in UG courses. Last year, about 3,600 students enrolled in the UG courses; however, it was observed that 400 to 500 seats usually remained vacant at the DAV PG College. Last year, selection of students in UG courses were also conducted based on the CUET, but due to a lack of awareness about CUET examination dates and other reasons, the number of enrolments for the said courses was lower than expected, he said.

Regarding admissions in postgraduate courses, he informed that Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University conducted an entrance examination for these programmes.
