Muslim Seva Sangathan sounded concerned over the Uttarakhand government’s decision to abolish the Madarsa Board. The organisation submitted a memorandum to the state government through the Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan, requesting the government to reconsider the issue.
The president of the organisation, Naeem Qureshi said that the decision could affect thousands of students, teachers and their families. “If there are irregularities in any Madarsa, they should have been corrected instead of repealing the whole system,” he added.
The vice-president Aqib Qureshi echoed the view, stating that the government should have discussed with the Madarsa representatives, teachers, parents and education experts before taking a final decision.
The organisation demanded the government to review the decision, remove any irregularities through legal and transparent measures and protect the interests of students and teachers. “We are for dialogue as part of a democratic process,” Qureshi said.
