621 posts of specialist doctors vacant in Uttarakhand

The State government accepted in the Vidhan Sabha on Thursday that a large number of posts of specialist doctors are vacant in the State. A total of 621 posts of specialist doctors are vacant in the State. In response to a question by BJP MLA Khushal Singh Adhikari, the Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that there are 641 specialist doctors in the State deployed on 1,262 posts. The minister said that the state government has started a ‘you quote we pay’ scheme under the National Health Mission (NHM) for recruitment of the specialist doctors. He said that the State government has increased the age of retirement of specialist doctors to 65 years from the earlier age limit of 60 years. Rawat further said that many bonded medical officers are undergoing post graduation in different medical colleges and on completion of studies they will be deployed in different hospitals as specialist doctors.
