In another piece of good news for Uttatarakhand in sports, Magat Ram Gupta of Haldwani, aged 77, has won the silver medal while representing India in the Open International FStrength Lifting and Incline Benchpress Competition held in Kathmandu, Nepal from March 10 to March 13. It may be mentioned that a total of 30 players had participated in that category. He has earlier won UP championship and national level medals in weightlifting many times. He has served as the president of Uttarakhand Karate Olympic Association, Uttarakhand Power Lifting Association and weightlifting coach at Haldwani Sports Stadium. Congratulatory messages keep pouring in for him from Uttarakhand. Those who have sent messages include former MP Pradeep Tamta, MLA Sumit Hridayesh, Mayor Haldwani Jogendra Rautela and former MLA Narayan Pal.
