The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Thursday held a review and training meeting as part of preparations for Swachh Survekshan Survey 2026, with a major focus on improving citizen feedback and sanitation monitoring across the city. Chaired by the municipal commissioner Namami Bansal, the meeting was attended by assistant municipal commissioners, chief sanitation inspectors, sanitation inspectors, women associated with self-help groups (SHGs) and municipal supervisors.
Bansal reviewed the corporation’s ongoing preparations for the nationwide cleanliness survey and discussed ways to improve Dehradun’s ranking this year. Special emphasis was laid on citizen participation, which carries significant weightage in the Swachh Survekshan assessment process.
Officials were briefed on current citizen feedback figures, ward-wise targets, use of the mobile application and the online feedback process. Participants were also trained on how to encourage residents to participate in the survey and submit feedback actively.
Bansal stated that visible cleanliness and public response directly impact the city’s ranking. Sanitation staff and supervisors were instructed to regularly inspect their respective areas and ensure that sanitation-related complaints are addressed quickly.
The review also focused on Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) across the city. Bansal directed teams to identify such locations, carry out regular cleaning and take preventive measures to stop repeated dumping of waste. Instructions were also issued to strengthen door-to-door garbage collection, improve road sweeping, maintain cleanliness at public places and ensure proper disposal of waste.
Following the meeting, sanitation officials were given scoring formats and inspection matrices for conducting Swachh ward ranking assessments in the city’s 100 wards. The exercise aims to create healthy competition among wards and improve overall cleanliness standards. The civic body also appealed to residents to avoid littering, maintain cleanliness in their neighbourhoods and participate actively in the citizen feedback process to help Dehradun improve its ranking in the national survey.
