Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officers of the State administration to maintain constant communication with MLAs to address public issues. He said that this will not only provide accurate information about problems but will also expedite their resolution. The CM gave the order while reviewing the status of his announcements for the assembly constituencies of Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar district at the State secretariat on Friday.
He said that MLAs bring the problems of their respective areas to the government’s attention and therefore, it is the administration’s responsibility to take serious action on them. Dhami said that all short-term projects be completed expeditiously, while long-term projects should be completed in a phased manner within the stipulated time frame. Any slackness in the progress of work will not be tolerated, he warned.
In the meeting, the CM directed the chief secretary to establish better coordination between departments for the effective implementation of schemes involving more than one department.
Dhami said that better coordination between the administration and public representatives will ensure both quality and progress in development projects. During the meeting, the CM placed special emphasis on necessary preparations for the upcoming monsoon season. He directed that all storm drains be cleaned, in time before the onset of monsoon. He also directed that all necessary preparations be made to prevent potential forest fires during the summer. The CM emphasized that coordination between departments, as well as public awareness should be emphasized to prevent forest fires.
He said that uninterrupted water and electricity supply should be ensured in both rural and urban areas during the summer season so that the general public does not face any inconvenience.
In the meeting the MLAs raised various issues related to their respective constituencies, including road construction and repair, strengthening health services, construction of mini-playgrounds and protection of crops from wild animals, flood protection work, waterlogging and others.
Dhami directed officials to ensure timely and effective resolution of every problem raised by the MLAs.
Cabinet ministers Saurabh Bahuguna and Ram Singh Kaida, MLAs Banshidhar Bhagat, Diwan Singh Bisht, Trilok Singh Cheema, Shiv Arora, Sarita Arya and Mohan Singh Bisht attended the meeting.
