The Deputy Inspector General of Police (Traffic) Mukhtar Mohsin has introduced three hi-tech interceptors in three districts- Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Champawat which were the only districts without interceptors. The officials said that six operators were given training by the department to operate these interceptors. These interceptors can also be used in auto mode as well as in manual mode due to artificial intelligence systems installed in these interceptors. The officials also informed that a rooftop 4G Camera with one terabyte of memory and a network video recorder (NVR) is also installed in each interceptor which will be used to manage law and order. Besides this, other equipment like laser speed devices with cameras, bar lights with amplifiers and breath analysers among others will also be available in the interceptors, said the officials. They said that these interceptors will be used to improve the traffic system and speed up enforcement action across the respective districts. The officials said that a sub-inspector and a driver along with an assistant will work in these interceptors to manage traffic issues.
With these three interceptors, now all districts have their own interceptors to monitor law and order and traffic management, added officials.
