Cabinet expansion, distribution of responsibilities & Bageshwar bypoll to be discussed after Karnataka polls: Bhatt
At a time when questions are being raised about demographic changes and associated factors in Uttarakhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt has said that a law for population control is necessary for Uttarakhand. In an informal interaction with media persons at the BJP State headquarters here, Bhatt said that the subject of population control is being discussed across the State. The party will soon hold discussion on this subject with the government, he said.
The BJP State president said that the party considers a population control law necessary to address issues like demographic change and population in the State. He said, “The BJP is committed to the cultural, spiritual and religious identity of Uttarakhand. In the past, we brought one of the strictest anti-conversion laws in the country. The draft of the uniform civil code is in its final stages and a strict land law will be brought to address the issue of land jihad. The decisions taken by the State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami are being appreciated across the nation,” he opined.
Regarding the cabinet expansion and allocation of positions, Bhatt said that these will be deliberated upon after the Bageshwar Assembly bypoll. The cooperation of MPs and MLAs will also be taken in the programmes of the organisation, he added.
Referring to the Congress, he said that the party members should not just chant Hanuman Chalisa but also clear the stand of the party on all religious issues. “Lord Ram and Hanuman can be election issues for the Congress but for us this is a matter of the nation’s cultural identity and dignity,” he said.
The BJP State president further said that various issues related to Uttarakhand including cabinet expansion, distribution of positions and the Bageshwar Assembly bypoll will be discussed after the Karnataka Assembly elections. As far as review is concerned, the works are reviewed every three months at the party and government level. The review of the government’s works has been done by the chief minister along with all MLAs and officers while the review of the party organisation will be conducted soon, said Bhatt.
He informed that party is also preparing a plan for making better use of its MLAs in organisational programmes. From May 15 to June 16, the MPs will be involved with the party in various programmes which will be held in the booths from where the party had lost, added the BJP State president.
