The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that instead of criticising and questioning the opposition parties, the government should revisit its development model for Uttarakhand and should take lessons from its past mistakes. In a statement Mahara said that the people of the State are paying the price for the baseless and disastrous policies of the government. Taking a dig at the claim of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami which he made at his makeshift camp office in Matli, Uttarkashi that investment proposals worth Rs two lakh crore have already been inked for the global investors summit, the PCC president said that the statement is an attempt to divert attention of the people from the real issues. He said that the government is trying to divert attention from its failure in safe evacuation of 41 workers even after 14 days of the partial tunnel cave-in at Silkyara, Uttarkashi, construction of the tunnel without mandatory escape passage, pathetic conditions of the so called all-weather road and the use of poor quality material in the construction of the tunnel.
Mahara said that only the future will tell as to how much investment came to the State amid the failures of the State government and actions of the BJP leaders. He said that the status of development in a State whose CM remains busy in election campaigns in other States, where the law and order situation is pathetic, the health services are in disarray and where scams and corruption prevail can be deciphered.
