SSP bans movement of heavy vehicles on 11 routes in Doon

Considering the recent road accidents caused by heavy vehicles in Dehradun, the police have restricted their movement in 11 accident prone areas from December 1. In recent times, the Dehradun district has witnessed various accidents that were caused by heavy vehicles in which the driver usually runs away and victims lose their lives. The senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh on Wednesday issued the order to ban the movement of heavy vehicles from 6 AM to 10 PM at eight entry points and locations to prevent accidents, and ensure public safety and smooth traffic. These eight points and locations are Dharmawala, Ranipokhari, Sahaspur, Maharana Pratap Chowk Raipur, Transport Nagar ISBT, Mussoorie Diversion, Laaltappad and Maldevta Chowk. Besides this, the SSP has also banned the movement of heavy vehicles from 9 AM to 9 PM on three major routes. The first route is Dhoolkot junction to Premnagar to Ballupur to Kamala Palace via GMS Road. The second route is from IT Park to Sahastradhara Crossing and from Tapovan Junction to Raipur. The third route is Transport Nagar junction to Asharodi till the construction work of the road is completed there. The movement will be banned on both sides of the said routes, said Singh.
