Continuing their boycott, the representatives of the Congress party did not attend the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Vidhan Sabha on Saturday.

The meeting of the BAC was held at the residence of the Vidhan Sabha speaker Ritu Khanduri. The meeting was chaired by the speaker and attended by the parliamentary affairs minister Subodh Uniyal and BSP leader Mohammad Shahzad. In the meeting, the business of the house for the two day Vidhan Sabha session commencing in Gairsain on Tuesday was decided.

The leader of the opposition, Yashpal Arya and other Congress members boycotted the BAC. When contacted, Arya who was in Jaspur to attend the Nyay Yatra of the Congress party, termed the meeting of BAC as farce. He said that it is for the first time when the meeting of the BAC was conducted at a place where the VS session is not being held. “ The session will be held in Gairsain, the summer capital of Uttarakhand and BAC which is part of the session should have been held in Gairsain,’’ he said.

Arya said that the State government is afraid of  facing the house due to which it has held the VS for only two days. He said that the objective of the government is only to pass the supplementary budget. Arya said that the Congress will organise a massive protest outside the Vidhan Sabha in Gairsain on October 27. He said that the party will raise the issues of corruption in the house. He added that the husband of Minister Rekha Arya has levelled serious allegations of corruption against the minister. The LoP said that the Congress will also raise the issue of women safety and increasing price rise in the house during the VS session.
