Marengo Asia Hospitals made a significant achievement in the field of liver transplants by using the bloodless technique and discharging their patients in the shortest period. As many as 10 liver transplants have been performed in Marengo Asia Hospitals, Faridabad and Gurugram and five liver transplants using this technique have been successfully conducted in Marengo CIMS Hospital, Ahmedabad. Dr Punit Singla, Director – Liver Transplant and HPB Surgery, Marengo Asia Hospitals Group and his team utilised the Werfen technique for this surgical procedure.

In the latest and highly advanced method of bloodless transplant, the patient’s own blood is conserved and returned to their body. Bloodless surgery eliminates the need for external blood or blood components from donors. During these surgeries, surgeons employ meticulous techniques and innovative procedures to minimise surgical blood loss, eliminating the need for transfusions.

Dr Raajiv Singhal, managing director and group CEO, Marengo Asia Hospitals says, “The number of liver transplants conducted with the Werfen technique across our hospitals marks a significant moment of pride for us. The achievement of our medical team in successfully implementing the blood transfusion-free technique is a testament to our dedication to enhanced patient experience, deployment of advanced healthcare technologies, and our unwavering commitment to ‘Patient First’ above all else.”

Dr Punit Singla, director- liver transplant programme, Marengo Asia Hospitals said, “Liver transplantation has evolved as a preferred therapy for specific patients facing end-stage liver disease. Achieving a blood transfusion-free liver transplant represents a remarkable milestone in gastrointestinal surgeries. It showcases the significant strides made in surgical techniques and technology within the medical field while emphasising our dedication to our patients’ well-being.”
