Police issue traffic advisory ahead of LS elections

The Dehradun police issued a traffic advisory on Wednesday which will be implemented from April 18 to 20 during the movement of polling parties in view of Lok Sabha elections to be held on Friday. The administration has set up a strong room in Maharana Pratap Sports College stadium at Raipur from where all the polling parties will depart and return. The traffic police will restrict the movement of vehicles on several routes as part of extensive security measures for the LS elections, the senior superintendent of police Ajay Singh said. He said that strong security arrangements will be in place during the movement of polling parties before and after the elections. As per the advisory, no heavy vehicle will be allowed to come towards the sports college from Maldevta, Thano Road, Ring Road, Survey Chowk, Sahastradhara Crossing, Raipur Chowk and Chhe Number Puliya. The heavy vehicles coming from Maldevta side will be stopped at Maldevta Police Chowki. Besides this, entry of vehicles coming towards Mussoorie and Dehradun city from Dehradun airport via Maharana Pratap Chowk will also be restricted. All these vehicles will have to enter the Dehradun city via Bhaniyawala, Doiwala and other linked routes. Vehicles going from the Dehradun city area to police stations and the airport via Maharana Pratap Chowk, Raipur will not be allowed to enter Raipur.  Vehicles going to the airport and Mussoorie side will be allowed to enter Raipur via Rispana Pull, Doiwala and Bhaniyawala. Vehicles going towards Raipur from Rajpur or Sahastradhara Crossing will also be sent towards their destination from Survey Chowk via Rispana Bridge, Doiwala or Bhaniyawala.
