Heat wave conditions to continue, rain to provide relief in some parts

Temperatures remained high in the plains while various mountainous regions witnessed light to moderate rain on Sunday. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Almora and Pithoragarh districts. Heat wave conditions are likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Almora, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts today. Further, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Tehri and Almora districts while dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts. Dehradun is forecast to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 40 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Sunday were 40.5 degrees Celsius and 24.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 39.9 degrees Celsius and 26.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 26.9 degrees Celsius and 16.8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 28.4 degrees Celsius and 16.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
