The State Health department has deployed 37 new nursing officers in its health centres.  In view of the model code of conduct enforced in the State due to the Lok Sabha elections, the Health department has taken permission of the Election Commission for appointment of these nursing officers.

The department gave appointment letters to 34 nursing officers after the order of the Uttarakhand High Court while three candidates were appointed after verification of the necessary documents.

The department has deployed seven nursing officers in Chamoli, eight in Pauri, three in Rudraprayag, five in Uttarkashi, seven in Pithoragarh, two each in Almora and Champawat and one each in Nainital, Bageshwar and Tehri.

Notably, the department had sent recruitment requisition to Uttarakhand Medical Services Selection Board to fill 1564 posts of nursing officers. The Board selected 1377 officers while the result of 84 candidates was withheld due to pending petitions in HC. The court had recently directed that appointment to 34 candidates should be given after which the department deployed them in the health centres.

The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the appointment of new nursing officers will strengthen the health services of the State. He expressed hope that newly appointed officers will work with dedication and honesty.
