Police divert route on vote counting day

Several routes will remain diverted in Dehradun on account of the counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday. The police on Sunday issued a traffic arrangement plan for smooth traffic and to prevent inconvenience to commuters. This plan will be applicable from 6 AM to 8 PM on Tuesday, the officials said. The counting process will be held at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Raipur and movement of all vehicles will remain prohibited within a 100-metre radius of the premises. As per the instructions, no heavy vehicle will be allowed to come towards the college’s stadium from Maldevta or Thano Road during the said time duration on Tuesday. The police will allow only officers, employees, polling agents and candidates on counting duty. Besides this, only pass holding media personnel will be allowed entry from the stadium and the college’s gate. Also, no heavy vehicles will be allowed to enter the entire Ring Road, Survey Chowk to Sahastradhara Crossing and to Raipur Chowk and Chhe Number Puliya to Maharana Pratap Sports College, the officials said. They added that strict legal action will be taken against those violating these rules on the vote counting day.
