Pilgrim numbers continue to rise, more than 19 lakh visit Char Dham

The number of pilgrims undertaking the Char Dham Yatra has continued to rise steadily with more than 19 lakh people having undertaken the pilgrimage so far. According to the official data, 19,06,850 pilgrims have visited the Char Dham temples so far. As per the information provided by the Tourism department, 18,120 people visited Kedarnath on Saturday with a total of 7,48,348 people having visited this temple in the Rudraprayag district so far. In the Chamoli district, 18,371 people visited Badrinath on Saturday whereas a total of 4,72,065 people have visited this temple so far. Similarly, in the Uttarkashi district, 9,810 people visited the Yamunotri temple on Saturday whereas a total of 3,46,545 people have visited this temple so far.   Further, 10, 395 people visited the Gangotri temple on Saturday while a total of 3,39,892 people have visited this temple so far.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Char Dham Yatra started in May with the reopening of the Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri temples on May 10 and Badrinath temple on May 12. The government has been expecting that the number of pilgrims will break last year’s record when more than 56 lakh people had visited the Char Dham. Considering the number of pilgrims who have visited the Char Dham so far within a month of the start of the pilgrimage, the previous year’s record is expected to be surpassed soon.
