Pre-monsoon showers to bring relief from heat in State

The rains experienced across the State since Thursday have brought much needed relief from the heat wave conditions witnessed in various parts of the State for more than 10 days. The State meteorological centre has forecast that the temperatures will now remain lower than those experienced during the heat wave conditions. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in the mountainous districts and at isolated places in plain districts of the State on Saturday. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) and intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts of the State today. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky. Thunder cloud development is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Friday were 36.5 degrees Celsius and 24.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 37.5 degrees Celsius and 28.3 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 26.6 degrees Celsius and 15.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 27.4 degrees Celsius and 18.3 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State with 35 millimetres in Nainital, 32.5 millimetres in Lansdowne, 30.5 millimetres in Jyolikot, 22.5 millimetres in Nainidanda, 11.7 millimetres in Dehradun and 2.4 millimetres in Mussoorie.
