Dark clouds brought a light snowfall to the Badrinath shrine on Monday, blanketing the region and surrounding hills in white. The sudden weather shift triggered a sharp drop in temperature, bringing a biting chill to the entire area. To shield devotees and local residents from the sudden drop in temperature and snowfall, the Badrinath Dham administration has launched immediate relief measures. The Nagar Panchayat is setting up public bonfires at key locations, including major intersections, the bus stand, the temple complex and main roads.
The sub-divisional magistrate Chandrashekhar Vashishta stated that authorities remain fully alert to the worsening cold, ensuring that an ample supply of firewood is distributed across the dham to keep everyone warm.
Notably, the portals of the revered shrine are scheduled to close for the winter break on November 16.
