Weathermen issue Red alert for Kumaon districts again

The districts of Kumaon region will continue to experience very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places on Thursday as per the State meteorological centre. As per the red warning (Take Action) issued by the centre for Kumaon districts, very heavy to extremely heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places with very heavy to heavy rain at a few places in Nainital, Bageshwar and Champawat districts on Thursday. Heavy to very heavy rain is also likely to occur at a few places in Almora, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar districts. The districts of Kumaon division are also likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied with lightning or very intense to extremely intense spells of rain at isolated places on Thursday. Besides this, the centre also issued an orange alert (Be Prepared) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall or thunderstorms accompanied with lightning or very intense to extremely intense spell of rain at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri and Haridwar districts. The centre also issued a yellow alert (Watch) regarding possible heavy rainfall or thunderstorms accompanied with lightning or intense to very intense spell of rain at isolated places in Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi districts. The maximum heavy rainfall on Wednesday was recorded at Chaukhutia in Almora district with 72.5 mm of rain.  Considering the warning of heavy rainfall in the districts of Kumaon, the administration has decided to keep the schools closed in Nainital, Bageshwar, Almora, Udham Singh Nagar and Pithoragarh on Thursday.
