IIT Roorkee sings technology transfer agreement with Prayas Greentech Pvt Ltd

In latest news from Uttarakhand, Indian Institute of Technolog Roorkee and a start-up Prayas Greentech Private Limited signed technology transfer agreement on the technologies developed at IIT Roorkee by the faculty professor Prasenjit Mondal related to methods for recycling of waste plastics. The institute’s senior functionaries said that the inventions would provide a low-cost, eco-friendly process for recycling waste polyethylene packets through the production of value-added products like trackway planks and systems using composite prepared from waste plastics and other wastes.
Speaking on the collaboration, the director, Prayas Greentech Private Limited Yash Dua said that these technologies are expected to play a crucial role in recycling waste plastics by addressing the issue of littering landscape which led to harmful environmental consequences.
The dean of Sponsor Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC), IIT Roorkee, Prof Akshay Dvivedi said that their mission is to seamlessly connect academic research with industry needs.
Hailing the agreement, the director, IIT Roorkee Prof K K Pant said that this partnership would demonstrate a high efficiency in converting waste plastic into reusable materials with a clear outline of the expected reduction in waste volume.
