122nd Sri Ma Nanda Devi Mahotsav to start on Sept 8

The 122nd Sri Ma Nanda Devi Mahotsav will begin in Nainital on September 8. General secretary of the organising body, Shri Ram Sevak Sabha, Jagdish Chandra Vabadi said that the festival will be organised in a grand manner this time. The local MLA Sarita Arya will be the chief guest at the inauguration while chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will preside over the conclusion of the fair. He informed that the rituals will begin on the afternoon on September 8 after which plantain plants will be welcomed and ritually worshipped on the next day. The plantains will be used to make representation of the goddesses on September 10 and consecrated early in the morning of the next day. Ritual prayers and a bhandara will be organised on the next day followed by worship, bhajans and other programmes on September 13. Similar activities will be organised till September 15, when the representations of the goddesses will be immersed after a ritual procession in the city, he said. Cultural programmes will also be held during the evenings from September 10 to 14.
