Ganesh Chaturthi commences with traditional offering
People urged to make the festival eco-friendly

In latest news from Doon, the 10-day celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi festival has commenced with devotion and gaiety with a call to make the celebration eco-friendly. Devotees of the elephant-headed Hindu God who is revered as the bestower of wisdom and prosperity are offering red sandalwood paste, yellow and red flowers, coconut, jaggery, and modaks as part of the traditional celebration.
A co-founder of Grow-Trees.com which supports afforestation in India Pradip Shah urged the people to help regeneration forests. “By embracing eco-friendly practices, we can pay a meaningful tribute to Lord Ganesha,” he said.
