In latest news from Uttarakhand, the secretary to the chief minister and the Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat directed the officials concerned to ensure that the rain-ravaged Gaula bridge reopens for light vehicles within 20 days. Earlier, he had inspected the rain-damaged international stadium and the Gaula bridge with the senior officers of NHAI, PWD and irrigation departments concerned.
Besides, Rawat directed the officers to have the 300 m stretch of land dangerously affected by subsidence near the stadium strengthened to protect the stadium from further damage.
