A pink booth was officially inaugurated at Paltan Bazaar in Dehradun on Thursday, with the initiative aimed at enhancing women’s safety in the area. The booth was established under the directives of district magistrate Savin Bansal, who had instructed the police to implement measures for the safety and security of women. He had also sanctioned approximately Rs 1.36 lakh from the untied funds for the installation of the booth to support the initiative. The booth will serve as a dedicated point for women to seek help and assistance in case of emergencies or safety concerns, as per the DM. Besides this, he has also requested a proposal from the police for the installation of CCTV cameras in Paltan Bazaar, ensuring increased surveillance in the area. The installation of the cameras is expected to take place soon, further bolstering security measures in one of the busiest markets in the region.
