The historical 11-day Ramleela organised by the Ramakrishna Leela Samiti Tehri has been witnessing a large number of people from far and near. The Ramleela in Dehradun commenced on October 3 and will continue till October 13. The historic Ramleela of Tehri, which was held in Azad Maidan from 1952 until Tehri was submerged in 2002, was revived in Dehradun in 2023 after a rupture of 21 years.
The president of the samiti, Abhinav Thapar informed that a Laser show and digital live telecast had been done for the first time in the history of Uttarakhand during the Ramleela organised in 2023. “This became a special attraction. This year too, we are arranging a digital live telecast and we hope it will be watched by over five lakh viewers this year,” he said.
He further said that the renowned Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor had graced the sixth day of Ramleela. “Requested by thousands of people, the actor recited dialogues from his popular films. Besides, on the sixth day of Ramleela, the Shurpanakha’s story and Sita’s abduction were enacted, drawing people’s appreciation,” he said.
“Another novel thing happened during this year’s Ramleela. Digital sparks were seen on the Laser wall when Ravan crossed the Lakshman Rekha. The viewers enjoyed and applauded the application of modern technology in the traditional Ramleela,” Thapar added.
