Rain and snowfall likely in five mountainous districts today

Even as the maximum and minimum temperatures have continued to remain above normal in various parts of the State, rain and snowfall are likely in some parts of the State on Tuesday. The rain and snowfall is expected to bring down the mercury level by a few notches. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Further, there is also a possibility of snowfall in areas situated at altitudes of 4000 feet and above. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Mist/haze are likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 31 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Monday were 30.9 degrees Celsius and 18.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 32 degrees Celsius and 19.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21.6 degrees Celsius and 11.8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 22.9 degrees Celsius and 13.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
