PM celebrates Igas at Baluni’s residence

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Uttarakhand’s festival Igas Bagwal or Budi Diwali at the residence of the Garhwal MP Anil Baluni in Delhi. Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included the Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president J P Nadda and the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Modi stressed on the preserving the old festivals like Igas to preserve the culture of the country. Baluni said that the Igas festival had been revived when it was sinking into oblivion. He appreciated the Uttarakhand government’s move to declare a public holiday to mark the festival.
