BJP rejects Congress’ allegations, calls liquor link political conspiracy

The Bharatiya Janata Party has dismissed allegations made by the Congress claiming that the illicit liquor seized in Chopta near Kedarnath in Rudraprayag late on Sunday is linked to the BJP. Instead, the BJP has accused the Congress of orchestrating a conspiracy to tarnish its reputation ahead of the crucial Kedarnath Assembly bypoll. Speaking at a Press conference in Dehradun on Monday, BJP spokesman Suresh Joshi refuted claims of Congress that the car in which the vehicle was found reportedly belonged to a BJP worker.
Joshi averred that the Congress orchestrated the whole thing for its smear campaign against the BJP to propagate its political agenda ahead of the Kedarnath bypoll. Congress is nowhere at the ground level in this bypoll so it is just orchestrating plans and finding ways to malign BJP’s image, he said. Referring to Congress’ campaign as disorganised, he claimed that many senior Congress leaders had abandoned their election campaign, leaving their candidate without support. The factionalism within Congress and dissatisfaction over ticket distribution are the main reasons for their diminishing influence due to which Congress leaders are conspiring against BJP, Joshi claimed.
He said that the BJP has lodged a formal complaint with the election observer in Kedarnath and added that appropriate legal action will be taken as per the investigation. Besides this, Joshi also targeted Congress’ strategy in the election. Joshi alleged that Congress has consistently opposed key initiatives like Uniform Civil Code, anti-conversion laws and anti-riot legislation, branding them as anti-people. He accused Congress of spreading falsehoods about Kedarnath’s sanctity and manipulating data on pilgrim numbers to mislead the public.
Responding to speculations that many BJP workers are not working efficiently at ground level in Kedarnath as they want chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to lose the CM position, Joshi said that every worker is working diligently and these rumours are just part of Congress’ smear campaign. He expressed confidence that the voters of Kedarnath will rally behind the BJP’s developmental agenda and reject Congress’s alleged smear campaign. “With Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Dhami’s work and Asha Nautiyal’s leadership, Kedarnath will witness a record-breaking victory for the BJP,” he said.
