Pilgrimage & religious tourism rising in U’khand: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that pilgrimage and religious tourism in Uttarakhand are rising consistently and are likely to do so further in the future. He said that in view of this fact the State government is working on big projects in Uttarakhand. The CM said that the State government is planning to build a Ganga corridor in Haridwar and Sharda corridor in Purnagiri.
Dhami was addressing the 29th Uttarayani Fair at Bareilly Police Line ground in in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
He said that the fair has had an immense cultural, commercial and historical importance since ancient times. In ancient times, when the means of communication and transportation were limited, fairs were of great importance for meeting, trade and exchange of information.
Dhami said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is going through a period of cultural renaissance. The construction of Kashi Vishwanath corridor, Ujjain Mahakal temple corridor, Ram temple construction and the praise the Yoga and India’s ancient heritage are receiving on the world stage are clear evidence of this.
He said that in Uttarakhand, work is being done for the preservation and promotion of culture and heritage. The work of reconstruction of Kedarnath Dham, master plan of Badrinath Dham and reconstruction and beautification of religious places and temples under Manaskhand Mandirmala mission are being done at a fast pace.
The CM government is also working to develop Uttarakhand as a wedding destination and a film shooting hub.
He averred that the State government has taken many steps to preserve the sanctity of Devbhoomi. Strict legal provisions have been made to prevent any kind of crime and to curb immoral acts like land jihad, spit jihad, he said. The CM added that soon Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in the State.
The Bareilly MP Chhatrapal Singh Gangwar, local MLA Sanjeev Aggarwal, Mayor Umesh Gautam and others were present on the occasion.
