Even as the State is suffering from the effects of the disasters caused by heavy rain on Friday, a warning has been issued regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy in at least five districts of the State on Sunday. The State Meteorological Centre has issued an orange warning (be prepared to take action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/ thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Bageshwar districts of Uttarakhand today.
A yellow warning (be aware) has also been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in remaining mountainous districts and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are also likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of the State on Sunday. In addition to this, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in all districts of the State today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. One/two spells of light to moderate rain /thundershowers are likely to occur, which may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 32 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
It is pertinent to mention here that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has already directed the government machinery to remain alert during the entire monsoon, especially on days for which heavy rain warnings have been issued. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was witnessed in various parts of the State on Saturday with the people witnessing a respite from heavy rain with 21 millimetres in Lansdowne, 3.5 millimetres in Berinag, two millimetres in Lohaghat and 1.5 millimetres in Rikhnikhal.
