5th Biotech Conclave begins at UCB

The fifth Biotech Conclave started at the regional centre of Uttarakhand Council for Biotechnology in Patwadangar. Earlier, the vice- chancellor, GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Manmohan Singh Chauhan
inaugurated it. The vice- chancellor, Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani, Naveen Chandra Lohani was present. Chauhan lauded the UCB for bringing together over 300 national and international scientists, researchers, and subject matter experts at the conclave.
Addressing the conclave, the director, UCB, Sanjay Kumar referred to the Bio E-3 policy, stating that this policy would provide new dimensions to the ongoing research and development in the field of biotechnology. “It will enable Uttarakhand to move from national to international levels,” he said. An international representative, Nikitin Georgi said that there are immense possibilities in various fields of biotechnology, including agriculture and animal husbandry in Uttarakhand, adding that new research programmes would be started by the institute he was from in collaboration with Pantnagar University and UCB.
