A medical dispensary has started operating in the Dhikala Zone of Corbett National Park again after a gap of 17 years. Inaugurating the facility, the CTR director Saket Badola said that the dispensary had been set up again to cater to the medical needs of the domestic and foreign tourists who visit the Dhikala zone every year in their hundreds. “It is equipped with medicines and medical instruments to provide primary medical care to tourists in case of sudden illness. Besides, it will prove beneficial during instances of human–wildlife conflict. In addition, staff members working inside the Dhikala zone will now have access to first-aid facilities,” he added.
Notably, the distance from Dhikala to Ramnagar Hospital is approximately 40 km. A medical dispensary operated in the Dhikala area till 2008 and it stopped operating thereafter. Now the reopening will provide healthcare to tourists, staff members and locals.
