Nainital police recover and return 206 lost mobiles

In a special drive, Nainital Police recovered and returned 206 lost mobile phones to their rightful owners as part of a special initiative. Police sources said that the recovery drive, led by the senior superintendent of police (SSP), Nainital Manjunath T C, resulted in the return of mobile phones worth approximately Rs 33.46 lakh, highlighting the effective use of technology and inter-state coordination by the police.
It is further learnt that several complaints regarding missing mobile phones were received between November and December through the Nainital Police Mobile App and the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. Taking swift action, the SSP directed the district-level Mobile App Cell to intensify recovery efforts.
Those privy to the details of the drive further informed that the operation had been conducted under the guidance of the SP (Crime), Jagdish Chandra and SP (City) Haldwani, Manoj Katyal, with supervision by the circle officer (Ops) Haldwani, Amit Kumar Saini. The team, led by inspector Ganesh Singh Manola, who is the in-charge of the Mobile App (Cyber Cell), traced the devices using IMEI numbers via the CEIR portal.
Police sources informed that the police team had recovered mobile phones from several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and various districts of Uttarakhand. The people whose mobile phones had been returned sounded happy and expressed the hope that such recovery initiatives would continue relentlessly in the future, too.
