The district magistrate, Savin Bansal announced flag hoisting at 9:30 AM at all government offices on the Republic Day. The district administration has already started preparations for the R-Day celebrations. Bansal has taken a review meeting of the preparations.
The main programme will be held at the Parade Ground where the Governor will unfurl the tricolour.
The Public Works department was directed to prepare the stage and install barricades at the main venue. The Electricity department was asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply on the day. Arrangements for drinking water would be made by departments concerned. The Municipal Corporation will look after cleanliness at the venue and nearby areas.
The District Magistrate also instructed the Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) to ensure proper lighting and beautification of major places and government buildings. The department of Culture was asked to make special arrangements for cleanliness and lighting at the Martyrs’ Memorial. Several departments were directed to begin preparations for tableaux to be displayed on R- Day.
Special lighting will be arranged at major crossings and government buildings on January 25 and 26. Patriotic songs will be played at important crossings on January 25 in the evening and on January 26 in the morning. A poets’ meet will also be organised at the Municipal Corporation Town Hall on January 25.
