MDDA demolishes illegal plotting in Ranipokhari, Thano areas

The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) removed illegal plotting in Ranipokhari and Thano areas of Dehradun on Monday. During the drive, illegal plotting spread over around 22 to 27 bighas of land was demolished.
According to MDDA officials, plots were being developed and sold on agricultural land without approved layout plans, land-use change permission or approval from the authority. Notices had earlier been issued to the persons concerned, but no satisfactory response had been received. Following this, MDDA teams carried out demolition of illegal roads, plot markings, pillars and other temporary structures.
In Ranipokhari area, illegal plotting on about 15 to 20 bighas of land was found, while in Thano, illegal plotting was being done on around seven bighas. The action was carried out peacefully in the presence of MDDA engineers and police personnel, the officers said.
The MDDA vice- chairman, Banshidhar Tiwari said that illegal plotting and unauthorised structures would continue to be removed.
