The Special Task Force (STF) busted a fake Jan Seva Kendra operating in Udham Singh Nagar district on Wednesday and arrested one accused. The accused has been identified as Chetan Kumar, a 21-year-old resident of Rampur district in Uttar Pradesh. The accused has made fake documents for around 400-500 people, police said.
According to senior superintendent of police SSP, STF, Ajai Singh, the accused was running an illegal Jan Seva Kendra in the Transit Camp area near State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIIDCUL). The centre was allegedly being used to make fake Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and mark sheets. The accused has been identified as Chetan Kumar, a 21-year-old resident of Rampur district in Uttar Pradesh, who was currently living in the Transit Camp area.
Police said that many people from other states come to work in industrial units of SIIDCUL. Since priority in jobs is given to local residents of Uttarakhand, some outsiders were getting fake local Aadhaar cards and documents prepared. During the raid, STF and local police sealed the centre and recovered 42 Aadhaar cards, 55 PAN cards, nine mark sheets, a computer system, printer, monitor and a biometric fingerprint scanner.
During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted that he had been running the centre for the past one year and had prepared fake documents for around 400 to 500 people. A case has been registered against him at Transit Camp police station and further investigation is underway.
