The all-India head of Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, Deshraj Gupta will visit Dehradun on Friday to address a health awareness programme centred on Yoga and preventive healthcare.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, organiser Om Kumar said that the session will be held from 3 PM. He said that Gupta will speak on the theme “Yoga Drives Away Diseases,” focusing on the role of regular Yoga practice in maintaining physical fitness, improving respiratory function and supporting mental health. The discussion is expected to cover lifestyle-related conditions and the importance of regular physical activity.

The programme is open to the public. Bharatiya Yog Sansthan was founded in 1967 in Delhi. Over the decades, the organisation has expanded its network to thousands of free Yoga centres across India and in several countries abroad, Kumar claimed. The group conducts regular Yoga sessions and public outreach programmes.

In Uttarakhand, local office-bearers of the organisation are coordinating arrangements for the event on February 20. Kumar said that the session will also include practical guidance on simple Yoga exercises that participants can incorporate into their daily routine.
