PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

To enhance patient convenience, the administration of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital has decided to install a dedicated counter for health package services. This initiative, set to be implemented this year, will allow citizens undergoing health checkups to complete the entire process registration, billing, sample collection and report receipt at one location.

The Medical Education director Dr Ajay Arya and the hospital’s principal, Dr Geeta Jain inspected the hospital premises to review the arrangements. Officials were instructed to streamline all procedures and ensure they are executed in a timely manner to reduce unnecessary waiting times for patients.

Jain said that a single-flow service system will be introduced at the health package counter. Additionally, a Jan Aushadhi counter is being developed in the indoor area near Gate No 5 to provide essential medications immediately after testing.

Notably, the hospital administration has devised health packages tailored to different age groups and disease risk categories. These include, executive health package (30+ Age Group) Rs 1191, healthy heart screening package – Rs 639, pediatric health screening package Rs 627 and routine health profile (Mini Health Check-up) Rs 727, among others.

All packages include necessary lab tests and, in selected cases, additional tests such as ultrasounds, the hospital officials added.

They further said that comprehensive health packages are often available in the private sector, but the costs may be prohibitive for the average citizen. In contrast, GDMC Hospital rates are affordable, they said, adding that the hospital administration encourages citizens to take advantage of these affordable health package offerings and to be proactive about regular health check-ups to detect serious diseases early.
