PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun

A cross FIR was registered on Sunday by the gunner of Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’ in connection with the alleged assault on Primary Education director Ajay Kumar Naudiyal. Earlier, an FIR naming the MLA had been registered based on the complaint lodged by the director. Now, on the basis of the gunner’s complaint, a case has been filed against unidentified persons. Police said that some people have also been detained in connection with the matter.

It will be recalled that on Saturday morning, the BJP MLA had reached the Education directorate along with some of his supporters. He had approached the director to learn about the status of the demand for renaming a primary school after an elder member of the family which had donated land for the school. A verbal argument soon escalated into a scuffle with the director sustaining minor injury.

After the incident, Naudiyal filed a police complaint against the MLA and his supporters. In the complaint, it was alleged that the people accompanying the MLA not only used abusive language but also engaged in a scuffle and vandalism.

Meanwhile, the MLA also clarified his side in the matter, declaring himself innocent while accusing the other side of misbehaviour and provocation. The MLA claimed that he and his supporters did not behave improperly; rather, the director acted rudely and instigated others. He further alleged that the crowd present in the office, which was involved in vandalism and scuffle, had been called by the director himself.
