Various unions of Education department employees have decided to protest on Monday and Tuesday by wearing black armbands following the alleged attack on Primary Education director Ajay Kumar Naudiyal in his office in the presence of Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’ on Saturday. The president of the Rajkiya Shikshak Sangh (RSS) Ram Singh Chauhan said that teachers deputed to State board exam duties will discharge their official responsibilities during this two-day protest.
Chauhan informed that an important meeting was called by the State Primary Teachers Association on Sunday to discuss the plan of action following the attack on Naudiyal. Representatives from various districts of the State participated in the meeting and strongly condemned the incident. The teachers expressed concern stating that if the director of Primary Education is not safe, it highlights the precarious situation of ordinary teachers and employees in the State. This incident has hurt primary teachers across the State, he said.
Considering this, the various associations of Education department employees will hold a protest by wearing black armbands on February 23 and 24. Chauhan noted that this agitation will not disrupt the Uttarakhand Vidyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP) board examination, as teachers on duty will continue to fulfill their responsibilities. He emphasised that if no action is taken against the accused after these two days, a massive agitation will follow and all teachers and workers will boycott their duties. Chauhan further urged the government to take decisive action regarding their safety and security.
