The incident took place on March 7 after a dispute between the two students. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Uday Singh alias Vishu, a first-year MCA student from Meerut who was living in a rented room in Ogal Bhatta area.
The complaint was filed by the girl’s father, Krishan Chandra Verma, who said that the accused attacked his daughter with the intention to kill her. The injured female was taken to Government Doon Medical College hospital where she is undergoing treatment and her condition is reported to be serious but out of danger.
The police said that the accused and the victim studied at the same private institute and had known each other since September 2025. During questioning, the accused told police that he wanted to marry the woman but recently came to know that she was in contact with another young man. This led to an argument between them, after which he allegedly attacked her with a knife in anger.

Later, based on his statement, the police also recovered the knife used in the attack from his rented room in Ogal Bhatta.
