Above normal temperatures to maintain warm weather in State

Many parts of the State have continued to simmer in recent days with above normal temperatures being recorded in both the plains and mountainous areas in the first week of March itself. According to the State Meteorological Centre, during the past 24 hours maximum temperatures were observed above normal to appreciably above normal in the plains and above normal to markedly above normal in the mountains of the State. No significant change is likely in the maximum temperatures in the State during the next two to three days.
Meanwhile, the centre has forecast that very light to light rain rainfall/thunderstorm/snowfall (at places situated at altitudes of 3,800 metres and above) is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts on Monday while dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with haze also likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 30.9 degrees Celsius and 18.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 30.7 degrees Celsius and 15.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 28.2 degrees Celsius and 9.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 22.4 degrees Celsius and 10.3 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum and minimum temperatures were five and seven degrees Celsius respectively above normal in Dehradun while the maximum was three degrees above normal and the minimum was six degrees above normal in Pantnagar. The maximum temperature in Mukteshwar was 12 degrees Celsius above normal while the minimum was four degrees Celsius above normal. Similarly, the maximum was two degrees above normal and the minimum was three degrees above normal in New Tehri.
