PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun
A verification drive was carried out at paying guest accommodations, hostels, residential apartments, homestays, hotels and Ashrams in various parts of Dehradun on Sunday under Operation Crackdown. The aim of the campaign is to prevent crime and keep a check on suspicious persons staying in the area, police said.
During the drive, police verified people living in the district as tenants, labourers and other outsiders. Police teams carried out checks in different urban and rural areas of the district from the morning. The police teams also asked landlords, hotel owners and homestay operators to ensure police verification of tenants and employees living or working at their premises. Officials said that strict action would be taken against those who fail to get verification done. During the campaign, challans were issued under the Police Act against property owners who had not conducted verification of tenants or outsiders staying at their properties.
