Police bust prostitution racket, three arrested

Dehradun Police bust a prostitution racket running from a house in the Bindal area of the city on Tuesday. Three accused including a woman were arrested while three women were rescued by the police. 

The arrested accused were identified as Rani Devi, Ashish Kumar Pandey and Phulo Khan. According to the police, they received a tip-off about prostitution being conducted in a house in the Bindal area. A joint team led by the Mussoorie circle officer Jagdish Pant, along with the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and Cantt Police was formed to take action.

A raid was conducted on the night of March 16 near Raghunath Temple in Gandhinagar area. During the raid, three women and two men were found in an objectionable condition inside the house. Objectionable materials were also recovered from the spot.

During questioning, it was revealed that the main accused woman, along with her associate, had been running the illegal business for some time. They used to call women from other States by offering them jobs and then forcing them into prostitution. The accused used WhatsApp to send photos of the women to customers and fixed rates and meeting places over phone calls. Another accused was responsible for taking the women to the customers and received commission for this work.
